Sports and Remedial Massage

Almost anyone of any age can benefit from Sport  and Remedial massage, whether or not you engage in sport and exercise. Most of us have imbalances in our bodies as a result of occupational stresses, sports injuries, emotional or work stress, accidents, illness, posture or incorrect lifting.

Sport and remedial massage therapy helps to improve body alignment by treating the soft tissue (muscles, ligaments, tendons and fascia) and, contrary to what people say about sports massage, it should not hurt. Indeed, it should be pleasurable and relaxing because part of the therapeutic effect happens because of the healing effect on the nervous system.

It is a holistic treatment which treats the entire person and not only the area of your body that hurts.

For more information see /sport-and-remedial-massage.html

Choosing a practitioner
It is important to choose a qualified sports and remedial therapist who has undertaken all the necessary training to understand the theory and practice of this therapy area.

Sue is fully qualified and insured in sports and remedial therapy and is registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). By choosing a therapist registered with the CNHC you can be confident that they are properly trained, qualified and insured.

Thai Yoga Massage in Chippenham

Picture
I am a Thai Massage Therapist based in Chippenham and offer treatments in Traditional Thai Yoga Massage (Nuad Boran) and Thai foot massage.

Thai yoga massage is a traditional form of healing which encourages the body to balance and remain healthy. It is very different to what we generally think of as massage in the West because you lie on a comfortable futon mat on the floor and remain fully clothed.

The therapist uses hands, feet and elbows in a series of moves to help free the tension trapped in your body, inducing a profound state of relaxation. Energy lines, acupressure points, muscles, ligaments and joints are stretched and opened, which stimulates energy flow and encourages freedom of movement. However, it is more than a physical therapy and works to balance and harmonise the entire body. Most people report that they sleep exceptionally well after these treatments.

Thai foot massage
This is a new therapy in Thailand which combines elements of Traditional Thai Yoga Massage and Reflexology and works on energy points in the feet and lower legs.  The massage lasts for one hour and is carried out on a massage couch using creams on the feet and lower legs.

It is very relaxing and can help to improve circulation, increase flexibility of the feet and ankles, combat stress and insomnia and relieve headaches and migraine. It can also prevent or help to relieve a very painful condition called plantar fasciitis, which occurs when the soft tissue under the foot becomes inflamed and tight. You may feel this as pain under the heel, in the Achilles tendon and under the foot.

Healthy feet are crucial to our well-being and problems in this area can result in impaired walking and difficulties in other parts of the body.

Events

Reading Half Marathon 2013
At weekends, I work with Star Massage which provides massage at sports events all over the country.

The latest event I was involved with was the Reading Half Marathon on Sunday 17 March 2013. A very wet, windy and cold event, which was very challenging for the runners and massage therapists alike. Pictures opposite give a flavour of the event and shows some of our team at work. Photos backup-massage

We have ordered sun and warm for the next one, though the Cheshire Cat UK Cycling event in Crewe, scheduled for this Sunday (24 March) has been cancelled because the weather forecast is for snow.

What people say:

Sports massage
"I have had sciatica for over a year and it has woken me every night, so I have not had a decent night's sleep since it began. After two treatments with Sue it is now perfect. I'm now able to enjoy walking the dog again and sleep all through the night. I certainly recommend her to you."

Sports massage

"I recently had a right knee replacement after having had the left one done 4 years previously - part of my latest post-op rehabilitation included a series of massage sessions by Sue. As a result of these, the swelling, stiffness and discomfort diminished much more quickly after the second operation, thus easing and speeding up the recovery process considerably. I certainly felt that it helped a great deal. Sue is knowledgeable, professional, efficient, easy to talk to and genuinely interested in people and their well-being. I would recommend her to you wholeheartedly."

Sports massage
"At last a sports massage that deals with just that, dealing with injuries and not fathing about with a number of heat treatments etc. I had back, neck and shoulder injuries having served in HM Forces. Now, after having had regular treatments with Sue, I feel that I have benefited greatly from the treatments that she offers. I strongly recommend Sue for those in need of any sporting or long-term injuries that require treatment."

Thai yoga massage

After having had a period of stress, I booked a Thai massage with Sue Moyers. After being made to feel totally at ease, the massage commenced and the only way to describe it is pure bliss. Not only do you have the sense of total relaxation, but t
he worries and stresses that were experienced before all seem to just melt away. To say that I slept like a baby that night is an understatement. I thoroughly recommend Sue Moyers Thai massage.
